Child Safety Standards

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Homeward has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We do not permit any content or behavior that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits minors, anywhere on the platform, and we will remove any account involved in such activity and cooperate with law enforcement.

Who Homeward is for

Homeward is a ride-share and safety network built for enrolled college students. At launch, creating an account requires a verified @iastate.edu university email address — Homeward is not open to the general public, and access is scoped to one university's verified student community at a time. As Homeward expands to additional campuses, each will have its own verified university email domain.

Homeward also supports an optional, mutual-consent guardian link feature, so a parent or guardian can connect to a student's account for added visibility and peace of mind. See our Privacy Policy for how that feature works.

What Homeward does not do

Reporting content or behavior

Every profile, ride post, and message in Homeward can be reported directly from the app. Reports include a reason (for example, harassment, safety, or inappropriate content) and are reviewed by our team. Accounts found to violate these standards are removed.

You can also block another user directly in the app. Blocking is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in your view — a blocked user cannot message you or request a seat on your rides, in either direction.

Reporting a CSAE concern to us

If you encounter content or behavior on Homeward that you believe endangers a child, please use the in-app report feature on the relevant profile, ride, or message, or contact us directly at [email protected]. We review every report we receive.

Where required by law, we will report apparent instances of child sexual abuse material or exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement.

Account & data removal

Any account that violates these standards will be removed. Users can also delete their own account and all associated data at any time directly within the app — see our Privacy Policy for details.
