Lemon Chilli keeps your recipes on your device. We do not run servers that receive your recipes, and the app has no accounts, advertising, or analytics. No tracking, no ads, and we never sell data.
Your recipes, photos, notes and settings are stored only on your phone. If you create a backup or share a recipe, the file goes to the app you choose (such as Files, Mail or AirDrop). We never receive it.
When you paste or share a recipe link, the app requests that page, and the page's photo, directly from the website, like a browser. That website can see your IP address. Re-importing a recipe fetches the page again, the same way as the first import.
You can paste recipe text copied from a message, a note, a caption or a comment. The app reads it on your phone to separate the ingredients from the steps. The text is not sent anywhere. The app only reads your clipboard when you tap Paste, or paste into the box yourself.
If you paste a YouTube, Instagram or TikTok link (or a link from a similar site), the app asks that site for the post's page directly from your phone, like a browser, and reads the recipe from the description or caption. The picture is downloaded the same way. If the description or caption has no recipe, the app can also ask YouTube or TikTok for that video's comments, the same way their own page loads them, and reads only the creator's own comment. Those sites can see your IP address and that the page and its comments were requested. The text is read on your phone and nothing is sent to us. For a recipe in someone else's comment, copy the text and use Paste.
Photos you scan are read on your device. They are not uploaded.
On iPhone and iPad you can turn on iCloud sync. Your recipes and photos are then stored in your own iCloud Drive so your devices can share them. They are stored and transferred by Apple under your Apple account and Apple's terms; we cannot access them. Sync is off by default and you can turn it off at any time. Android does not use iCloud; Android users can move recipes with a backup file.
The home-screen widget reads a small summary from storage shared only between the app and its widget on your device. Images you share are created on your device and sent only to the app you choose.
In cook mode you can have steps read aloud and say short commands such as “next”. Speech is recognized on your phone and is not sent to us or to any speech service. The microphone is used only after you tap it, and nothing is recorded or stored.
When you start a cooking timer the app may ask to send you a notification. The alerts are created on your device. We do not use push notifications and cannot send you messages.
“Send feedback” opens your mail app with a message to [email protected]. The app version and phone model are added and you can remove them. Only the email you choose to send reaches us.
Cookbooks and PDFs are created on your device and go only to the app you choose to share them with. Personal “My notes” are left out unless you choose to include them.
Where your iPhone supports it, the app can use Apple's on-device language model to read a web page that has no recipe data. This happens on your device.
Once a day the app asks the App Store or Google Play whether a newer version is available. You can turn this off in Settings. Nothing about you or your recipes is sent.
After you finish cooking a few recipes, the app may ask the system to show Apple's or Google's built-in rating sheet. The system decides whether it appears. The app counts finished cooks on your device only and sends nothing to us.
On Android, the text-recognition component supplied by Google (ML Kit) sends anonymous diagnostics, such as device model, OS version, app version and performance data, to Google. See Google's disclosure.
