Prof Network is a private, membership-approved professional network built for a single community at a time, starting with GOA Chicago. This page explains what data we collect, who can see it, and how it's used.
What we collect
Account sign-in. You sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google, or LinkedIn. We don't create or store a password ourselves.
Profile information. Your name, headline, company, industry, LinkedIn URL, skills, and profile photo, all shown to other approved members of your community.
Mentor information (optional). If you apply to be a mentor, your bio, areas of expertise, and years of experience.
Private contact details. Your phone number and email address, stored separately from your public profile and visible only to you and your community's Committee/Admin, unless you choose to make your phone or email visible to other members via a toggle in your settings.
Parent/guardian contact (minors only). If you're a minor member of the community, a parent or guardian name and phone number, visible only to you and your community's Committee/Admin.
How you heard about us, if you tell us at sign-up. Same visibility as the private contact details above.
Content you post. Job listings, events, and circle posts you create.
A push-notification token, if you enable notifications, so we can notify you about approvals, messages from Admin/Committee, and event reminders.
Who can see what
Your public profile (name, headline, company, industry, skills, LinkedIn, avatar) is visible to other approved members of your community, once your own membership is approved. It is never visible to the public or to members of a different community.
Your phone and email are private by default. Other members only see them if you turn on the "show phone" / "show email" toggles in your settings; even then, only your community's approved members can see them, never the public.
Your private contact details (phone, email, parent/guardian contact, how you heard about us) can also be read by your community's Committee/Admin, who review new members and manage the community.
The database enforces these boundaries directly (Supabase row-level security), not just the app's screens.
Membership approval
New sign-ups don't see any member content until your community's Committee or Admin approves your membership. This keeps each community's network limited to people it has actually vetted.
Messaging
Prof Network does not have open member-to-member chat. You can message your community's Admin/Committee directly, and the app can send an automatic notification to interested members when you post a job or circle update, but you cannot otherwise message another member directly through the app.
How your data is used
To run membership approval and show you content from your own community.
To power mentorship matching, the jobs board, events, and circles.
To send you notifications you've opted into.
Nothing else. We do not sell your data, and we do not run ads.
Third-party services
Supabase for our database, authentication, and file storage (profile photos).
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications.
Brandfetch, used only when an Admin creates a job listing, to look up a company's public logo by name. No personal member data is sent to Brandfetch.
Your rights
Access and update. Your profile and private details are editable in-app at any time.
Delete your account. Deleting your account in Settings permanently removes your profile, private details, RSVPs, circle memberships, mentorships, push tokens, notifications, and your profile photo. This cannot be undone.

Children
Prof Network's mentorship program may include members who are minors, sponsored into the community with a parent or guardian's knowledge. Parent/guardian contact information is collected for these members and is visible only to that member and their community's Committee/Admin, never to other members.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and note the change date above.
